Campus Closed Monday March 16, 2020; Home-Based Learning to Begin March 18, 2020

March 14, 2020

The health and safety of our entire school community is at the forefront all of decisions we make at East-West. Therefore, we were supportive of the decision by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport to close school campuses in Phnom Penh at this time. East-West will be closed to students beginning Monday March 16. We will open again when advised by the MOEYS. Please see the attached letter from the government, as well as our translation.

We have put in place different online learning platforms for our students so that learning is disrupted as little as possible. These platforms will be discussed with staff on Monday, and we hope to roll out the initial distance learning program by Wednesday March 18.

Please note that this is the first time we’ll be using these platforms for distance learning, so we will need students, parents and staff to all collaborate as we learn how to use them together. There will be challenges for all involved, and we will work through them together. More information about this will be available this week.

Khmer Grade 6, 9 and 12 semester exams have been cancelled and scores from December to February will be used to determine semester exam scores.

Our WASC visit has been postponed as well.

Please stay tuned to our website and Telegram news channel for more information. If parents have any concerns or questions, please feel free to message me through Telegram or email me at Jeffrey.kane@ewiscambodia.edu.kh

Thank you for your continued understanding and support at this time. We are confident that we will get through these difficult times together and as productively as possible. Let us all continue to stay strong and care for and support for one another, as our community’s strength is the foundation of East-West International School.
