The Phnom Penh Activities Community—PPAC8—is a newly formed sports league bringing together like-minded schools such as ISPP, Liger Leadership Academy, CIS, and others committed to using athletics as a platform for growth and development. This league was born out of a shared vision that sports can be a powerful tool for shaping young people into well-rounded individuals. Through regular competition, collaboration, and community-building events, PPAC8 provides student-athletes with opportunities to grow not only in skill but also in character.
At East-West International School, coaches are embracing the mission of PPAC8 by focusing on the life lessons that sports naturally teach. Every practice and game becomes a classroom where values like teamwork, sportsmanship, and investing in others are emphasized. Coaches challenge their athletes to be “energy givers”—those who inspire and uplift their peers—while cultivating a sense of accountability, resilience, and mutual respect. The goal is not just to build strong teams, but to build strong student-athletes who understand the power of character and community.
A core philosophy at East-West, and throughout the PPAC8 league, is encouraging student-athletes to step outside of their comfort zones. Whether it’s taking on leadership roles, learning to overcome setbacks, or pushing physical and mental limits, students are guided to discover that they are capable of more than they thought possible. In doing so, East-West is helping shape the next generation of leaders—young people who will carry with them the values of respect, perseverance, and service long after the final whistle blows.
