Grade 1 Teacher

Hi, my name is Denis and I’m a Grade 1 teacher at EWIS. I was born and raised in Cambodia, and my mother is Moldovan and my father is Khmer. This is my second school year teaching at our school, but I have been teaching for four years. My experience ranges from early years to early primary. At the moment, I’m pursuing a degree in Early Years and Education. 

I’m very extroverted so in my free time, I like to go out and see friends and meet new people. I also enjoy drawing and playing the ukulele.

Secondary English Teacher

Hi everyone, my name is Dave. I am originally from the Philippines, but I moved a lot growing up. I have a bachelor’s degree in human services and fine arts. I also have my teaching certification (PGCE & CELTA).

I have lived in Cambodia for 10 years. I spent my first few years working at an NGO. I was assisting small business owners in writing their business plans. I enjoyed seeing learners reach their potential. This led me to become an English teacher. I have been teaching English for about 7 years. This is my second year at EWIS and I will be teaching grades 7, 9, & 10 English.

Curriculum Coordinator

I am Brandie Carroll and have been with East-West for 4 years now.  I am originally from the US and have a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Education. Before moving to Cambodia I was in China then Poland teaching in different international schools.  

I am always happy to help others and generally have a supply of instant coffee and snacks in my desk drawer if needed.

Grade 5 Teacher

I am Benjamin, I come from the U.K and I have been at East-West since January 2020. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree and I am currently putting the finishing touches to my post grad teaching qualification from the institution iTeach. I am a Grade 5 teacher, which in my opinion is the best grade to teach as I find the kids to be curious, open minded and energetic.  

Like many of us at East-West, I have an open door policy: If you want to bounce ideas around then you are more than welcome. If you can’t find me in my classroom then you can find me at the gym pretending to exercise. I am looking forward to my first full interrupted (hopefully) in person year at the school because the past few years have been an unpredictable storm of online and in person learning.

Head of Arts

Hi, I’m Angie from Malaysia. I’ve been teaching at EWIS since 2012 and 2 of my daughters have graduated from EWIS. I still have a son in grade 9 this year – lucky me! I’m passionate about all creative/art/ music related subjects. I also have my own private music school in Boeung Trabek. Anyone is welcome to the music room if they want to practice, learn an instrument or even form a band. Feel free to drop by to share ideas or just for a chat, I enjoy coffee and love cats!

Grade 3 Teacher

Hello, I’m Andrew. I moved to Phnom Penh with my wife and son in July. We were living in Japan before. I taught at an IB international school there for around 3 and a half years. I am one of the Grade 3 Homeroom teachers. I have a teaching certification for Prekindergarten through Grade 3 through the state of Florida in America, although I originally grew up in the state of Michigan. I’m very happy being a part of the teaching staff at East-West.

Secondary Business Teacher

Hello everyone! I’m Alain from Sunny South Africa. Graduated from UKZN with a B.Ed, back in 2007. Worked several years in Durban then took the leap and taught IB at an international school in Saudi Arabia.

Middle School Principal

Hello! My name is Landon. I’ve been out of my own country, The United States, for a third of my life, living and working internationally. I have a Master’s degree in education and a BFA in theater arts. In another life, I was an actor and intended to pursue a career in front of the camera. Life, though, never works out the way you plan it and, sometimes, other endeavors find you. I like to think that teaching found me.  This is my 7th year in Cambodia and my 3rd at East-West. I’ll be working predominantly this year as the Middle School Principal – though I will be involved in many additional areas of the school – and greatly enjoy working with adolescent learners.
