Head of School
I am a passionate educator, coach, speaker, and consultant. I am an advocate for sustainability, CSR, cultural intelligence, and humane education.
I have nearly 30 ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, training and leadership. Having worked and consulted in I am totally at ease in diverse cultures and social backgrounds – from at-risk youth in low-income suburbs to work in rural settings in the United States to Top Tier international schools in Africa and Asia. Wherever I go, I immerse myself in the culture, its people, and their language. English is my native language, and I understand Spanish, Chinese, Kiswahili, Thai, and Khmer.
I have experience in a variety of grade levels and leadership positions – as a PYP coordinator, Principal and Head of School. I received my Bachelorโs Degree in Elementary Education and my Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, both from Michigan State University. I am currently pursuing a Certificate of School Management and Leadership through Harvard Business School and Harvard Graduate School of Education.
I am an IBPYP and Compass Education Workshop Leader who regularly leads workshops for teachers throughout Asia-Pacific. Online I have coached courses through Harvard Graduate School of Educationโs WIDE World.
I am a fervent believer in ๐ต๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, which encourages cognitive, affective, and behavioral growth through the development of critical thinking, problem-posing and solving and above all – the development of EMPATHY.
My educational Leadership philosophy is based on three key points:
IMPACT: Educational leaders hold transformational power to positively influence societies and their environment by skilfully creating deep and meaningful learning experiences that students will remember for the rest of their lives.
COLLABORATE: Leading with empathy and compassion are essential to cultivating the trusting relationships needed with all stakeholders of the school community, to inspire others towards action and impact.
INNOVATE: learning institutions need to see opportunities and create systems for clear expectations, transparent communication and student-centered decision-making.
